As you read this, people around the world have needs that desperately need to be met. TREAD is helping children in three countries meet their basic needs: shoes in Guatemala, water in Zambia, and education in Nepal.
Nepal Relief Fund
Three members of the Cascade Leadership Challenge Everest Experience team were in Namche Bazaar, a remote area of Nepal, when the 7.8 magnitude earthquake of April 25th occurred. Stone buildings crumbled around them; water and electricity were cut off. Hundreds of people are displaced from destroyed homes. The team is now raising funds that will be distributed directly to the Sherpas in Namche for rebuilding and long-term recovery.
CARE staff are on the ground providing people with temporary shelter, ready-to-eat meals, water purification, and toilet construction. CARE will provide emergency supply kits (or CARE Packages) of tarps, blankets, jerry cans and toiletries.
