Mightycause’s #GivingTuesday plans extend generosity beyond traditional crowdfunding sites.
After three years of raising millions of dollars for charities across the country, Mightycause has decided to make their 4th #GivingTuesday event, tomorrow, bigger than ever.
After two days notorious for spending and shopping, #GivingTuesday is a day to give back and falls on the Tuesday after Cyber Monday each year. It is is an unprecedented global movement of selfless generosity and was founded in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation. Last year, #GivingTuesday’s global efforts raised over $116 million online, with over 114 Billion Twitter impressions.
Mightycause will be waiving its 4% platform fee and giving away $15,000 in prize grants making #GivingTuesday 2016 even more generous. The $15,000 prize grants will be given away throughout the day, including hourly incentives for the organization that raises the most donations as well as random boosts on individual donations throughout the day. Mightycause took contesting viral prior to the event for the first time this year prompting participants to get creative and share video content as well as participate in current virtual trends like the #mannequinchallenge.
Mightycause specializes in fundraising for a cause whether it be for a personal need or a charity. In 2015, over 24,500 donors came together on Mightycause to give $3.5 million to causes around the world. 2016 numbers are projected to be even higher as Mightycause has seen a 2.5% increase in signups for this year’s event including over 1,600 nonprofits large and small. These organizations represent all kinds of amazing and worthy causes around the globe, including: Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Girls on the Run, National Alliance on Mental Illness, The Salvation Army and many more.
